"This is gorgeously fruited and lifted on the nose showing Black Doris plum, spiced cherry, apple and spice aromas, followed by a succulent palate that offers excellent weight and depth. The wine is powerfully graceful with pristine fruit flavours and generous texture."

About the wine:

Around 1960, the Maby family acquired nearly 30 hectares on the plateau of Lirac, with its soil of rounded pebbles. La Fermade wine is made with Cinsault (80%) and Black Grenache (20%) grapes from this plot.  With the characteristic Provence pale, fine pink hue, this rosé is open and zesty on the nose with candy and light strawberry notes, and a drift of redcurrant. The palate has direct red fruit and is bustling with acidity. Great as an aperitif, can be enjoyed with nibbles or starters, and is perfect with salmon or white meats.

About Domaine Maby:

Domaine Maby is just to the north of Avignon, in the heart of the Côtes du Rhône area. The estate has been handed down over several generations of winemakers and covers sixty hectares across three different appellations: Tavel, Lirac, and Côtes du Rhône.

From the early nineteenth century, the Maby family has been growing vines in Tavel.  Living for several generations as shoemakers in the village, the family cultivated a few plots of vines and made wine which they sold locally.

Early in the twentieth century, Auguste Maby began to make a living from winemaking, gradually acquiring more land in and around the area.

Tavel and Lirac share the same soils studded with rounded pebbles as Châteauneuf du Pape. These rounded pebbles were literally ripped out of the Alps by the river Rhône in prehistoric times, but in today’s calmer environment they store up heat during the daytime and gently release it at night, contributing towards bringing our grapes to perfect maturity. Other vines planted on more sandy and shale type soils.

In 2005 they signed a Sustainable Agriculture contract to provide tangible proof of the owners’ experience of environmentally friendly farming methods. Their focus on respecting the environment enables them to ensure that their magnificent soils express themselves to the full.
