Sam Kim, Wine Orbit, January 2019.

"Beautifully fruited and fragrant, the bouquet shows ripe stone fruit, apple, grapefruit and spice notes, followed by a brightly expressed palate that is vibrant and crisp with an edge of zesty acidity. The wine offers delicate fruit intensity and fine texture, finishing impressively long and linear. At its best: now to 2020."

About the wine:

This blend of Tannat, Syrah, Merlot, Cabernet Sauvignon and Malbec has a beautiful blush color. The nose is very expressive: raspberry with strawberry jam with some touches of rhubarb and mint; evokes ice cream and red fruit sorbets. These flavours come through on the palate except there’s no sweetness in this fruit coulis; both round, long and refreshing. A pleasant wine to drink on any occasion.

About Domaine de Pellehaut:

The Château de Pellehaut has a long and beautiful history with over four centuries of the Béraut family producing Armagnac.

In the 1950s, with a diploma in agronomy, Gaston Béraut took over the management of the family estate. After doubling the total area from 150 to 300 ha including 50 ha of vines, Gaston decided to take control of the distillation of his own wines for Armagnac. Following the success of the Domaine’s Armagnac at tasting contests, the estate embarked on the adventure of the Côtes de Gascogne wines.

Two sons, Martin and Mathieu left their footprints as toddlers amongst the rows of the vineyards of the estate. Coming from a line of Armagnac winemakers, they trained in viticulture and oenology and for the past 20 years have continued the rise of the family estate. While still producing limited quantities of Armagnac, the estate now focuses on production of distinguished Côtes de Gascogne wines.
